"There is no trade here; there is no rich or poor; there is no contract, no inheritance, no boundary; treason, felony, the use of swords, halberds, knives, guns, cannons, and all weapons, are all eliminated. ......" What Shakespeare describes in “The Tempest” is an ideal world imagined along the lines of British writer Thomas More's concept of utopia. With this concept, the designer recaptures humanity's most pristine and beautiful fantasies about the future and nature by overlaying the lace from a French lace manufacturer, Solstiss, and framing the abstract floral pattern of the lace with black satin. The skirt is matched and layered with European Jacquard of the blue, nude, black and gold colours to express the mystical aesthetic of a new utopia.
